You can reassign mouse buttons to perform commands, shortcuts, and application-specific functions. So I found I was better off uninstalling IntelliPoint entirely, going with the newer Windows 8 friendly Mouse and Keyboard Center 2.1 64-bit, which has a Modern UI looking interface, and seems to work more reliably for me. Investigating a bit, I headed over to IntelliPoint driver download here, where I noticed the IntelliMouse driver is only available for Windows 7 and earlier OSs. Finally, I experienced random issues with reliably re-pairing. Or my mouse wheel acceleration settings would sometimes be altered, which suspending and resuming would oddly fix. I also found that the Bluetooth mouse would occasionally lose it's pairing with my laptop's built-in Bluetooth tranceiver. The local Bluetooth adapter has failed in an undetermined manner and will not be used. Issues I experienced included the Microsoft Bluetooth tranceiver not coming out of suspend mode properly, with this warning in the event log: My experience was with a 64 bit Windows 7 to Windows 8 upgrade, but this article likely applies to 32 bit Windows upgraders as well. If you used Microsoft IntelliPoint drivers under Windows 7 for your Bluetooth mouse, then upgraded to Windows 8 and have experienced some mouse issues, then this tip may help you.
